40 Watt
The famous 40 Watt Club is located on Washington Street in downtown Athens. This is its 5th location, and it has been here since 1991. This is probably the most well known venue in Athens to outsiders as it created a punk rock music scene and was frequented by R.E.M. and the B-52's. Today, they feature a variety of artists, bands, and different events. A few weeks ago they hosted a "Harry Potter Ball," and coming from a die hard Harry Potter fan it was awesome. There is bound to be a show for everyone at this club. Someone stole PA equipment late one July night. Many artists who hold the venue near to their hearts tweeted out promises of reward money to catch the thieves.
