DJ RX

Over the past year, an act known as DJRX has been sweeping the down town Athens night scene. Brian Gonzales, now DJRX, started out his career as an underage boy befriending the DJ in an Atlanta nightclub and asking for help. He was allowed to play on slower nights, and as he learned more he changed his stage name to Brian G. After attending UGA's pharmacy school, he coined the clever name DJRX. He wanted to be able to play any genre and to not be restricted to only playing electronic music all night. Check out some of his mixes and read more about his story on his website here. I've seen him a lot of times, and the genres he plays over the board but always upbeat. You will hear a remix of "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift fade into a rap song on the complete other end of the spectrum and its awesome. My favorite is when he will have smoke and confetti when the beat drops in a song. He advertises every show he plays on his Twitter, so it is a good place to check if you want to see him. They are usually at Hedges on Broad or Whiskey Bent.
Occasionally he will be booked for a special event, like SDT's Greek Grind or a fraternity party. He always draws a huge crowd of students and has become almost a household name around campus. Athens doesn't really have any nightclubs, but DJRX transforms any venue into a completely different experience. If you are looking for a wild and fun night of dancing and jumping around, and haven't yet, you need to check out DJRX one night!
