The World Famous

The World Famous is located on N. Hull Street in Downtown Athens. It can be easily located by the red arrow that says "This Is It." It is a pretty small space with a bar and full service restaurant. My favorite item is the Chicken Wings! On Wednesday a couple of friends and I split the french fries and got a few beers. They had great deals on craft beer, and my Creature Comforts Tropicalia was only $4. Whoever runs social media for the World Famous is doing a great job. They keep up with their Facebook and Twitter accounts regularly, tweeting multiple times a day and posting events on Facebook. Unlike many of the other venues I've looked at, they have events for almost every artist that will be playing. They also interact with the bands by retweeting or tweeting @ them. The night I attended, The World Famous tweeted:

I arrived to see the full set that Sleeping Bag played. The crowd was pretty small and consisted only of my friends and a few other people (I took the photo below). They played a few rock n roll/jam type songs and were really loud. I had a great time, but I don't think the crowd really matched the vibe of the music being played.

The World Famous features hip hop nights, open mics and all different types of music. The food is great and the atmosphere is fun. They have great cocktails and drink specials. It can get pretty crowded because there is limited space. I highly recommend stopping by for happy hour or checking out their Facebook page to see what events are coming up!
